Weight of 31 FBC
What would the ball park weight of a 31 Bertram Flybridge boat be without engines and fuel tank? I know a couple of guys have weighted their boat and I am interested in what the number was. I have seen the spec sheet and was interested in ready to go weight and with what engines.
Thank you for your time and input.

Re: Weight of 31 FBC
Capt Bone,
The spec sheet says aprrox 12,000 lbs dry. The old 172 gallon fiberglass tank is about 100 lbs, 233 gallon aprox 125 lbs. Depending on engine manufacturer they all weigh different amounts.
MY 454 Mercruisers with FWC ,trannies and hoses run about 875 lbs each. I weighed my boat a 1961 express without engines and an empty fuel, water tank it was 13,075 lbs when I shipped it to Florida in 1996. That was with 3 anchors, 30' chain, 400' line, life jackets, dock lines, fenders, Pomanette RM chair, outriggers and 12 rods and tackle.
The older Bertrams had a lot more glass in them 1961 to 1971) after the first gas/resin crisis the cost of resin and glass rose quite a bit, after 1972 to 1982 they were around 12,000 dry. Hope this helps.

Pete
Thank you very much. 13k without engines? That is surprising. I was thinking a 31 Bertram without engine and no fuel would be 6500-7500lbs.
Thank you for your insight.

Re: Weight of 31 FBC
I have a 63 Flybridge with 2 454 mercruisers. I also have a Westerbeke generator. After Sandy, mine had to be lifted via crane over my house (fortunatly minimal damage) and the crane weighed it at 14,500 (about 70 gallons of fuel). I do not have a tower

Capt Bone,
The minium size trailer for a FBC would be 16,000 lbs- 18,000 would be ideal size, make sure you get adjustable bunks and triple axel with brakes. Tow truck should be at least a F-250, we had a 350 duelly with power stroke diesel, is what I used to tow the 31' Jupiter with triple axel and 2 225 Mariners, we towed from Dania to the Keys to Bolixi, Miss to Morehead City N.C. make sure you carry at least two spare tires for the trailer and a good hydraulic jack and a breaker bar with an extension handle.
Bob H you must be getting close to launching June 1st? Bob H I haven't been able to get over to se Rose & Mark at MR Wood to show them how your teal came out. Still having knee issues, going to Boston on Wed to meet with head honchos at Brigham & Womens and MGH.
