options for helms...

When I bought my 31 it was mostly stripped, so I need new helm, ram, etc.

I am using a helm pod from Capt Patrick, so would like a flush mount helm, any recommendations on type of helm/ram that would be used

I used the rear mount Sea Star helm on Hancock's boat.

The hydraulic fill plug is located on center of the forward drop down, (little black spot in the image). There are several options as to volume and shaft size/style. I'll let Bruce advise you on those options.

Good luck I'd be interested in hearing more about how you plan to lay out the helm. I bought a helm pod but not planning on tackling that project until after the '13 season. I'm still up in the air about how I want to lay it out and have other priorities. I did make some calls and if you want that traditional Rybo style layout Scopinich and Gamefisherman can supply the cluster that integrates with the wheel. No idea if that's the direction your heading but figured I mention it.

I'll be taking notes on the advice your given...

Have you done one with those? Does a compass fit above it?

That compass is set on some other boat, there's no room on my console pod, or even the Scorpinich console pod for that matter, for a compass to be mounted directly with either electronics or instrument cluster.

I haven't had anyone make up an instrument cluster for me, but I did one for a customer years ago.

That page hasn't been updated in years so disregard and pricing that you might see. I'm not even sure I'd tackle another one due to being so dislocated from support industry, like water jet cutting and chroming

Do any of you guys ever find the singe lever throttle setup, on each side of the helm, difficult if you are needing to change thrust/speed settings while in a turn at the same time? Just asking because I have never run one...

Travis the single lever control is the best invention since sliced bread! I captain a 510 Bertram,45 cabo and my own 31 Bertram .the ultimate in fine control especially in backing up because you turn your body around and look down at transom and position of boat with hands on top of levers------------- the ultimate!!!!!!!
