My dad had a 68 Shelby Cobra GT500 just like Eleanor in "Gone in 60 Seconds", except red. The B31 of cars, only about 130 mph faster! Cost about the same when new also.

drove one of the original 260 cobras and could have bought it for four thousand dollars ...................but instead i bought a boat. one of my heros for sure.

Drove a '65 GT 350 for years. Wish I had one now. Still think the GT 40 is one of the handsomest cars ever.
When mentioning Carroll's stats how about seven wives. No wonder he needed a heart transplant!

I've been a huge fan of the Shelby Cobra since I got the matchbox car as a small child. I have never had the pleasure to drive one, recently found out one of the guys in my church has a kit car and I can't wait to see it.

I used to have a boss that was into old cars. back in the early 80's he told me he could find me a 69 Shelby cheap, but I never took him up on it. I still kick myself for that decision.

Now, a true master is gone. Kids today will never understand what he did or will be able to appreciate it.
