Helm chairs

Post by makomike1 »

I have a 1973 28 bert. and was looking to take away the bench seat and put 2 helm chairs on the bridge. I want to thru bolt base to brige floor. How hard is it to take down the headliner in the cabin and put back in place. People tell me that I should not do because I will never get the headliner back to the original tightness. Any tricks on doing this install?? or should I just deal with the bench seat?? Thanks Mike

I tore out my headliner because it was gross and replaced it with frp board. Held it up with stainless screws and put a nice piece of finished clear cedar to cover the one joint because it takes 2 sheets.

It brightened up the interior significantly and is a huge upgrade in terms of cleaning and class.

It takes 2 people to put it up but if you can get the headliner down in good shape to use as a template when cutting the frp board, it is a very easy upgrade.
