Transducer translation

Post by Stephan »

Gentlemen-
From the blessings of father's day and a little self indulgence I am in possession of a Garmin 441s GPS/Sounder.
I have an Airmar B66VL installed in the boat with the older 8 pin style Furuno plug on it. I believe the B66VL is the direct predecessor of the current B744VL. If I examine the wiring plan for the Furuno 8 pin: http://www.msgdeals.com/images/Furuno%20Plug.pdf and the Garmin: http://www.msgdeals.com/images/Garmin%20Plug.pdf then I believe I just match color to color and can combine the Brown/Black/Bare with the Garmin Black lead and not have to purchase a new transducer.
Whaddya' think?

In the past, when I changed transducers, my electronics guy made me a short adapter with a plug on either end. I just plugged one end into the old transducer fitting and the other end into the new unit. Yours sounds fairly simple to do if you could find the proper plugs.
