BIMINI- Built by Bob Walker in Pt. Pleasant NJ at the old Johnson Bros. facility.

Its the 24 Topaz hull, they also built a 29.

The name Topaz was later sold and it showed up on the side of the Silverhawk boats. Silverhawk started back up and now its not Topaz but Silverhawk again.

Confused yet.

I grew up fishing off of Long Island on a 24' Topaz with a 124 hp volvo diesel. Funny story we would do combination shark/tuna trips to the 30 fathom curve roughly 20-30 miles offshore and as i started getting older i wanted to go further out to the canyon but my Pops was reluctant based on the size of the boat. One day he decided to take a nap and let me drive the boat will trolling for tuna. I quickly pointed the boat south and when he woke up we were almost at the Dip (70 miles offshore). Needless to say he was furious and we were soon shopping for a bigger boat. And that is why we stepped up to the 31' bertram. He no longer has a problem with me heading south.

I can't imagine TSL putting black canvas on a boat. But I hear they are promoting inshore half day trips for shorter money, maybe this is what they are gonna use?

Just got some photos from the Surgeon General of the UVI from his recent trip to Hannibal Bank in Panama aboard his buddy's 43 Merritt - huge marlin. Matt met the guy at TSL during a UVI - his buddy had the Merritt here and a big mothership. And I wasn't invited?

I had a 24 Topaz with a 210hp Cummins 6B. Great on fuel and a solid platform, but needed more power. They are/were nose heavy and actually had a lead weight added just forward of the transom.
But still, a nice boat and it's actually one that I would do again. A guy from California bought a trailer and took mine from FLA to So CAL.

The boat is owned by Alberto Batoo one of the managers as TSL (think he oversees the fishing aspect at TSL)
I was there in January and he said it was on the way for him to use on his free time.
He is from Trinidad where he had a bertram 31 , but sold it,

Just to let you know.....I keep looking back at that picture of the 24 Bimini/Topaz and miss mine. It was slower than the 31, but WAY better on fuel and great to joyride or fish for 2 or 3.

It's the "big-boat" feel in a small boat ...and, if you get a trailer, you can pull it outtta the water, put it in your back yard, winterize it, paint your own bottom, cover it yourself and dump it back in the water in the spring. It just aint that fast.

They are nice boats. My friend sold his for a 26 Fortier. The Fortier is nice but there was something about that Topaz you just have to love.

Topaz had a website much like this one for many years, it is now coming back together on facebook. The owner of the boat shown here was on that site for a long time.
