Head Identification
Hey guys, looking for a hand identifying my marine head. I have a 76 28FBC with an electric head. The motor runs fine, but the hard nylon impeller is junk. The motor/base has been painted over and I don't see any markings. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I bought a kit and rebuilt mine....not much to them......I think the kit was around 45 bucks.....then I needed a couple of other parts that did not come in the kit....still ended up in good shape.
Rartian has an exchange program but its quite pricey.
Do a Google search for parts......everything you need is available

Hah Tampax hated those little freaking strings- all wound up on the blades and drive screw.
That little damn box always showed itself after the clog.

Well as in ac and dc, the higher the voltage generaly the lower the current. More involved than just that but its a basic.Harry Babb wrote: That is a lot! !

A 2hp motor will draw less current on 220 than 120.
Add a capacitor start motor over an induction start and that drops the power even more.
But you can't control speed easily as you can on dc which is why most loco's use dc as the drive source.
Ohms law formula for dc and ac circuits compare. DC = E(voltage)= I(current) x R(resistance). AC = E(voltage)= I(current) x Z(impedance).
Like most formulas if you know 2 you can find the 3rd.
The 12v crown was almost 1hp or about 720 watts. 1hp = 746 watts
Watts or P(power) can be found by the formula E(voltage) X I(current)
A handy formula when working with invertors and figuring battery draw and capacity needed.
The 24 and 32 volt crown drew less amperage than the 12 volt or any dc stuff.
Its why many times I ran into boats that were almost all 12v except for the diesel start circuits which were 24v. Starter motors would be to big in physical size to be able to one start the engines under that voltage but also bleed off the heat from the current draw.
As 32v faded away, I converted many boats to 24 or 12 as required.
I was a servicing dealer for Raritan in the 80's. Rebuilt hundreds of those crowns and pulled many wierd items out of the mulch chamber.
Built a test bench out of a ac motor driven altenator and 32v battery charger to supply the power for all 3 voltages up to 80 amps rather than keep battery banks in the shop.
