Prof, I like that snowplow....and the lights on the hood, guess it never dawned on me the blade blocks the headlights.

My son wanted me to go mallard hunting with him in Stuttgart, Ark. today for a few days.....and stand in freezing water up to your balls for hours. The low up there tomorrow morning is forecast to be something like 12. I ain't quite as mad at them duckies as I used to be, so I respectfully passed. He and his wife are going to NYC for New Year's Eve....I think the BP oil fumes musta got to the boy's brains, if he got any left.

You guys be sure to take some pictures. They are saying it should get down to about 40 tonight here in Marathon. Elevated home with tile floor and no insulation. Just portable heaters to boot! Should be fun.

Kevin - old coonass duck blind trick - charcoal bricketts in a clay flower pot sitting on some concrete blocks, stepping stones, bricks, etc. Puts out a ton of heat & just keep adding charcoal as it burns down. Open a window now and then when you start to feel woozy....

We're half way through this crap here on the Northern Neck of VA. and the rock fish weather vane on the boat house has 10" on it. Was about to brag that we're going to Key West but the high there today is 57.

Temp here is 33F, had three sessions today of about 20 min each with snow flurries, but zero accmulation and occasional drizzle. News now is the Storm warning is lifted and only a Travel Advisory in in place. It looks as if we here are the bottom edge of the snow line.

Sorry for everybody north of here though.. but having lived on the MA coast for 40 years I don't want to ever see snow on the ground here. I paid my dues years ago.

Stay warm guys!

Looks like they are upping the snow totals. The City could see 24 inches. Glad the boat is tucked away.

Mike -That is one sweet looking plow rig you have for you van. Never seen a plow on a van before.

We are getting wacked in RI right now.///Howling out side. Tucked the boat in this morning.....Barney next to me has a blue tarp tied to his boat that looks questionable in terms of being lashed down properly.....hope it does not let go and take my cover out in the process.

Surfs up...for sure. But with the amount of snow predicted some land based actiities may be in the cards for tomorrow.

Got the stove cranking.......and some Jack in the glass......."ridden the storm out"...actually, a lot of fun...as long as you have a roof over your head.

Sounds like you guys are having fun. Just after midnight and still 57 degrees here. Thought it would have been colder by now. I will admit that UV had me thinkin' about having a fire on the tile. As I walk through the front door with a clay pot with red hot charcoal......the look on my wifes face would be priceless. "Don't worry babe, I learned this on the Bertram website."

Bruce,

That ain't Bertram weather...

That's the weather for the dumbass sailors we read about every spring who were trying to sail south, got caught in a storm that they really didn't expect because they didn't listen to the news reports, had to be rescued by amazing and life risking coasties, and then end up in Soundings magazine like it was something that was newsworthy. Only newsworthy part is the amazing guys in the coast guard who go out and save people in weather like that.

Thats stupid people weather...

Storm was massive in NYC. 12 to 14 foot drifts of heavy wet snow. Cars stuck in the middle of every small street, blocking the plows. 50 mph winds.

The roofs are all bare from the wind. One side of a street might be clear, while the other side is burried. This was about as bad as I've ever seen here.

Over 30" here in Pt Pleasant. So bad I stuck the wifes H3 (needed new medicine and on an emergency journey)............. it was really fun, gotta admit though there was so much white I got lost in my own town, that lil truck ran good.

Shoveling dog paths to let the 130lb PIA out. 7 straight hours of moving white stuff while geese fly over my head (Getting pretty angry at them birds right about now.)

In Laws, Parents, Partner and Neils have not even seen a plow yet. Can't even get a pizza everyones closed.

Near as I've been told worse one in 40 maybe 50 years.

Hey Al Gore Kiss My Ass!!!!

Its all better now though I've found peace in Rum and Coke.

Walter:

I feel JP's pain of shoveling for the 140lb Pain in the A$$ -- I had a Rottie, the big baby thought he didn't have to go to the bathroom if he needed to squat his butt into a bit of snow -- he thought wrong. Since he was a 3 year old rescue dog, and a stubborn Rottie to boot, it took him a while to understand that he wasn't going to win!

Walter here is the long answer-- sorry but I'm gettin comfy now.

130lb Pain In the Ass ='s 130lb Greater Swiss Mountain Dog- Apparently to comfortable in his suburban housing to walk outside in the snow. Good news bad news is the dog is 28" to the top of his shoulders- the bad news is the snow is 30". Gotta shovel dog paths to make sure he isn't pissin and crappin on the path of least resistance----- my deck.

Had to bring the rabbits in because both of the hutches are covered in snow, santa brought chinchillas for christmas to add to the love fest- very nice critters I personally named them "hat" and "glove", hope they die soon so I can make one or both out of them, but with my luck they'll live like the rabbits- forever!

A real wild kingdom over here- I hope to christ one of these kids does something with animals in the future otherwise I'm gonna have the coolest- fish, frog, chinchilla, rabbit, hamster wallet on the planet. Couldn't use the dog I mean that's just sick!?!,,,,,,,,,,, Right?????
