Most of the guys that work at my shop prefer the cold.....some of them even come in without a jacket most of the time.

harry ...thats eastern gardiner's bay. its the body of water north of where i live. if you go east from greenport you also wind up there. it eventually becomes the block island sound and then the atlantic. so its open to any atlantic fish ... sharks and dolphins have been seen often. its salt water.
the flat gray areas are frozen slush and way out there in the distance is a six foot ice wall . i noticed this river of unfrozen water going out to the ice wall so i went home and got the kayak to go take a look. i also tried "fishing"...but gave up after half an hour without a bite......i have no idea what i expected to catch. my friend tim lee was my "spotter" and took the pictures. before i paddled out he told me...."dont fall in cause i aint going in after you".

a great white or mako would be far more likely. but seals scare me the most...they like to come over and "play" and they are here all winter. there is one very large one i have had some encounters with. i once had to paddle about 300 yards back to the boat after a surf session with this critter eyeballing me the whole way.
BTW...sorry for hijacking this thread....i was going for humor. anyone want to seriously start organizing a group trip to PR feel free to retake the thread.

Harry- Talking about hijacking...This was supposed to be a PM, but I pushed the wrong button and somehow couldn't delete it from the thread. I finally got into the basement of my renter's house and got the two carburetors I took off my gassers. The engines were Chrysler 413's that were upgraded to 440's. They are Carter AFB's,. The numbers I found on them were: 3543S and L2. One has an O-1377, the other O-1431 also on them. If you think they'd work, I'll send them. I would think they should both be rebuilt before using, but you're the better judge of that. Walter

I thought a time or two that I would like to Snow Ski. Actually took my children to Boone North Carolina on a skiing trip once
The true and real reason I did not try it was that I was afraid that something may get broken......such as MY LEG! ! !
Did Ice Skate.....that was pretty cool.....once I finished cleaning the Ice with the seat of my pants. Actually I did pretty good at the Ice Skating.
Jo Ann and I went to Cannon Mountain several years ago during the summer. You could ride the chair lift to the top then have dinner at the Lodge. That particular afternoon there were thunderstorms in the area so we had to ride up in a van. During dinner we watched Lightening DOWN BELOW......amazing......not something you see here in the deep south.

matt...where i worked in utah the top half of the mountain had no real cut runs like in the east...just huge "bowls" . in the spring they act as giant sun reflectors and ive seen some amazing sun burns and the rare idiot that skis without sunglasses or goggles....snow blind. ive also seen girls skiing in bikinis.
