3 coats of Pam with butter. Let each coat dry for one day. Lasts all season and cost very little.

that might work well up there, but I think our Florida barnacles would eat your Pam with butter for lunch

I learned it from some guys in Key West who leave their boats in yearround. It sounds stupid but it works great and cost little money. I also mix in a bottle of Pit Bull hot sause in my bottom paint and nothing grows on it. But if spending 150$ makes you feel better do it.

Could it just be you use your boat often....

Ha! No spending money doesn't make me feel better, I'm not one of those. I've managed to procure two cans of the now unallowed but reportedly excellent "Tempo" clear antifouling coating, and intend to use that on the running gear during my next visit to the hard. Maybe I'll also try some coats of your your Pam on top of that. Can't hurt. The guys in the Keys certainly have the same growth problems that we do here

I had good luck with the two part kit followed by Pettit Ultima Pro ablative paint.

The first primer coat was 6455 two part metal primer - $52.99/qt at West Marine

http://www.pettitpaint.com/fileshare/pr ... 645506.pdf

The second was Tiecoat primer 6627 - $39.99/qt at West

The third was the bottom paint.

The cheapest way to buy them is as the Underwater kit 6456

http://www.pettitpaint.com/fileshare/pr ... 645620.pdf

Start with clean sanded metal, then wipe with alcohol.
