SXSW in Texas

Post by tunawish »

Do any of you in Texas know of the SXSW Music Conference held in the streets of Austin next week??

The record label my 20 yo son is interning with, was invited to attend and they want him to work the conference for them. Apparently it's a big deal for the industry and for such a small label to be invited.

Then again the info did come from my son so this could mean anything my imagination could dream up....

Tell him to bring his boots and a shovel.
Reading the media hype, there's gonna be more BS slung around than in a cow pasture.

LA comes east.

Bruce,

Well if it's BS slinging .. he'll fit right in with the best of them...

You would think though after 24 years they have something going on...

I was wondering if anyone was close enough to have seen or know how big this thing actually is...the only Artist name I recognized is Stu Cook from CCR..

Sad...how old I've become..

Its a huge thing in the music industry. I haven't been in years but its a great event in perhaps the finest live music festival in the country.

I was there last year. It is by far the biggest event in the music industry. They also have a film festival and a software event that week. Tell him to wear comfortable shoes because he will walk a lot. Tell him not to drink too much, because he will be offered lots of free booze, and tell him to watch out for loose women who have had too much of that free booze- there will be plenty. If he likes music, which I am assuming he does, he will have an opportunity to see the best new comers and lots of the old standbys.

Super talented people literally playing on the streets, really a great festival.
