alumiprep 33

Post by coolair »

Guys,
I just went on Awlgrips web site, to read about alumiprep, and it says it is no longer produced. I know you can probably get some still, but wondering why is gone. And if you couldnt get it, west marine has a aluminum etcher, anybody had any
luck with it?
Thanks
Matt

Worst Marine's version and Alumiprep are pretty much the same. A 10% solution of phosphoric acid with distilled water works and is probably very similar to the Alumiprep. Follow any aluminum acid tretment with a good fresh water rinse and then an alodine treatment. 5 - 10 minute active chemical treatment for each.
