Question About the 1970 B31 Half Hull Wall Plaques
I've been a long time boater and Bertram/Ray Hunt fan. I don't currently own a Bertram...at least not a full size one! I do have one of those B31 half hull wall plaques, however, that were issued in 1970 to celebrate the 1000th hull being made.
I've read every post that mentions this plaque on the older bulletin board where there was mention of the intention of these being reproduced. Does anyone know if this ever happened? There does not seem to be any mention of these plaques that I can find using the search function on this (the new) bulletin board.
Basically, I am trying to figure out if the one I have is an original or a reproduction. What is throwing me off is that my B31 plaque does not have any of the markings on it that are mentioned in the older posts...in fact, I cannot find any markings on it at all.
I'd really like to see a photo of one of the originals if anyone has one and is able to post. From what I understand, the 1000th hull plaques were all just the half HULL....not the full half of the boat (like the one pictured in the Bertram Legend book on page 132).
Any input is greatly appreciated.

That full model is gorgeous, but I'll bet I paid less for my 13' Whaler.
I did a quick search and emailed these guys.

I'll inform of their response, but the prices for what I see seem reasonable.

There is another manufacturer that makes a really nice model.

gorgeous, but at 16" for $2,300 ... it's over $1,000 a foot. B31s in the early 1960s were probably right around the $1,000 a foot range and can still take the family for a ride !! Not quite in my current budget.

So it sounds like the repros never happened then. So that would confirm my thoughts about mine being an original. Anyway, it still does not have the plate/markings that say 1000th Hull/10th Aniversary/1970/etc. which is curious.Bruce wrote:Its already been tried.
The problem arises from the labor time involved to make a nice finished product that's affordable and the maker can make a few bucks.
Its not just the individual models its also figuring the time it takes to build and maintain a mold.
I'll post a pic of mine later today when I get home from work.
