refinishing teak and holly sole
Just got done sanding the teak and holly sole. Was able to get old finish off with out going through vennier. Has anyone tried minwax poly for thier floors or should I go the epoxy then varnish route?? Thanks..John
I have used Bristol Finish (two part epoxy) on my last boat as well as my current B50. It holds up perfectly & looks awsome. The only downfall is the smell when wet. It dries extremely fast so you can lay down multiple coats in the time it takes for two coats of regular varnish. On my last boat, I put down 6 coats within a few hours and the next day I lightly sanded & put down two more. It was a mirror finish that looked "wet" for the next four years that I owned it.

I used Bristol finish on the cuddy 'hatch' on my B25.
John,
Bristol Finish is a two part acrylic that is much harder than varnish and supposedly has far better UV (ultra violet... not our platinum member) resistance.
For some reason, I had problems with fisheyes but I was able to overcome this.
One great property is that you can sand through a partial coat and you will not have any shadows like you can get with varnish.
I wetsanded mine then was able to buff it to a shine.
Good Luck!
Ian.
