Fishermans Roundtable Meeting LI
Topics: Saltwater License & Fluke Management/Mismanagement. Anyone who comes and has something to say will have 10 minutes on the mic. Bring signs. The media will be there. This is a passive protest/ meeting/ discussion. Attend...Speak.... Be Heard!! Its at Soleaus Warf @ Marina Dune Road Hampton Bays. By the Shinnecock Inlet. Saturday March 14 2009 at 3pm. Call Capt. John at 631 728 4563 for info. If we dont speak up the state will do what they want. Please come if you can, it affects all of us.
What you don't like
NY State 22" minimum length fluke.
Bluefin Tuna quotas reduced to levels that make them not worth fishing for in the Atlantic while the rest of the world kills off our breeding stock.
Angler registration with NMFS (put on hold for 12 months)
HMS permits Tuna, Marlin, Swordfish and WTF "shark"
Regarding a fishing liscense:
It only makes sense is if the money goes to supporting sport fishery issues:
* New science for "at risk" fish
* Accurate catch studies
* Realistic days fished information
And as a reminder most of you guys better check into the "Save the Ocean" foundations that look so good on TV:
*PEW for example looks nice a pretty on the outside cause they want to help save the ocean. Until you get down into it and find that saving the ocean includes not letting anyone catch anymore fish as well.
There are several other "trusts" and such that have the same agenda.
We could always create a new bumper sticker
we're F'd
