Dye for fairing

I have seen a lot of carolina guys use a dye as a marker for faring there boats. Does anyone know where I can pic some up. Thanks.

I use sandable black rattle can auto primer. Stand back about 18" - 20" and mist it on like an overspray. I'd be afraid to use a dye that might soak in too much. Another trick is a cotton bag filled with chaulk powder. Use like a pounce bag. Cleans up with water...

Capt.Pat is right just cheep sandable primer. They uses cases at a time when they were building boats.

Dont waste good primer......thats the time to get rid of all those weird colors on the shelf that will never get used. Its getting sanded off anyway.

The reason for using the sandable primer is that it drys almost instantly, having very little adhesion to the hull when misted on. Whereas most other paints are slower drying & gum up the sand paper unless fully cured. Remember, time is money & sand paper ain't cheap... Cheap rattle can auto primer, at places like Home Dildo or Wally World, is about $4 - $6 a can. Krylon Primeris are good and about $3 a can.
