Herring story.

Seems the Herring have showed up at Montauk. A couple of my friends friends (who don't usually catch very much) went out and on their first drift took two nice keeper Bass. Instead of calling it a successful day, they happily kept on fishing and caught seven more Bass. Also, instead of releasing the fish, they decided that no one was around to check them, so they actually came in with nine Bass. They got greeted by a DEC guy who confiscated seven and gave them each a summons for the possession of seven illegal fish, which made EACH of them liable for a $700 fine. Idiots, yes...and poorer ones too. Wonder if that kind of penalty would apply on a party boat. Sure is a deterrent to cheating. Walter
