Fischer's Island advice

It's the end of our season and I'd love to close it with some fresh Blackfish fillets in my freezer. As I understand it, there are some very productive rocky areas off Fischer's Island, but never having run there, I haven't the slightest idea of where to start looking. I'm not asking for exact numbers, but general ones, or any other advice for the coming weekend would be sincerely appreciated. I was told an artificial reef was dumped near the island, true? Walter

Walter, I will get the #s for you today and give me a call this week sometime and I will give them to you. I have a couple of guys I know who go there all the time.

I am not an expert, but I have a couple friends who do pretty well.

1) Just west of Seaflower reef there is a shallow spot you can see on the chart. there will be boats there, but that is a good sign.

2) Inside the island there are a series of rocky piles, check the chart...

3) Backside (your side) of the island, off Isabella Beach.

4) On the eastern outside (your side, again) of the island there are plenty of rocky areas. They hold fish too.

Those would be the places I would start.

There's a real good reef just outside of niantic also that I used to do real well at. Can't remember the name, Dug, do youo know the name?

Either Bartlett reef to the east, or off black point to the west. Both have been productive. When I have fished with friends, it has been off the point.

Black point to Hatchett's reef are my favorite spots for blackfish. Especially Hatchetts
