His tombstone has probably been read and remembered by hundreds visiting the cemetery. Far more than if it had been his name and dates of his birth and death. Kinda tells you something about how to do things while you're still walking around doesn't it? I agree with Tony, must have been a fun guy to be with. Especially when you realize he spent the time to write his own tombstone. How many of us would think of doing that. Hmmm, wonder what a jumping marlin in granite would look like.
John Prine sums it up pretty good
Chorus:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size
Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get "em" out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the junkman
And give my love to Rose
Repeat Chorus
Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It's a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ass goodbye
I hope the family put his name on the other side of that headstone
Chorus:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have "em" cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears

Don't lend a hand to raise a flag aboard a ship of fools!

I'm not really sure if its even true or not.......with Photoshop, clever guys with to much time on their hands can make almost anything believable
But I was simply amused at the sense of humor........I'm always up for a good laugh.......
There was an email floating around something about the goal in life is not to arrive at your grave in a beautiful, well maintained, well preserved body but to come sliding in sideways, torn and tattered, screaming WHAT A RIDE......
This epitaph, whether its true or not, is funny........I agree......this guy would have been a great drinking buddy
I wonder how it would read if his 2 passions in life were Bertrams and Beautiful women????
