Ike and the Judge

Post by Doug Crowther »

I have my fingers crossed for you Trey. Having stayed in your home on the canal, across the street from the ocean. It isn't looking good for you if this mother has the storm surge its projected to have.
Best wishes- hopefully you drove to the airport and flew to Andre's place.

Doug

PS is Andre your insurance bookie ?

Trey's place is maybe 150 yards in from the beach. You can see Billy's place down the canal from Trey's. This could be really ugly for them.
Galveston Island where they live is the projected point of landfall.

Pats way inland and needs rain bad.

Doug,
Trey's second floor is about 12 to 15' I think above water although there is much stuff on the ground level to get wet.

Hopefully he may have flown his plane out of the airport earlier.

There are reports of fires now, one being reported at a boat storage yard if the news is correct. Seems they shut the sewer and water off already. Don't know how they will fight the fires.

Bruce,
Yeah that first floor is where the garage, shop, and general man shed area is, and the house is well up above the water level. Not sure how sensational the predictions were but @ one point I heard a forecaster say there would be 40 ft waves coming in the channel into Galveston bay.

That little B25 on the lift will be in harms way.

The forecasters are 'PREDICTING"the surge. Here in La for Gustov they were saying 20ft storm surge on Grand Island and it took a direct hit and was on the worst side of the storm. The Island had only 7ft over it. Those forecasters are so full of crap. I wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them. They are all doomsday forecasters in my opinion.
