mounting racors

Mine are mounted on the outside of both engines and wish they were closer. If possible, work their position for your convenience and comfort knowing you're going to have to empty them, clean them and refill them. I've had to clean up dripped fuel at almost every filter change due to having to stretch across an engine during every step of the process. Walter

When I changed my fuel tank (gas motors) two seasons ago, I mounted a set of racors on the deck supports by shaft logs. If you have the "standard" deck hatch configuration, this puts them just inside each hatch just aft of the engine boxes. Super easy to change/check and they are out of the engine compartment and away from all electrical gear.

Place those suckers so that in an ugly sea when a filter clogs or water appears in the bowl you can get at it. I placed them at the aft end of the engine box with plenty of room to work. HAte lying on a hot engine to do filter maintenance.

Everybody is differant but mine are in my V berth on the bulk head so I can put a 5 gal pail under them and change them out standing up in 6 foot seas in the 100 mile square at 3am. My 2 cents

I was about to say, "Seems a little extreme," but what was I thinking? You and I have the same basic idea, make them accessible!

Mikey they never seem to pack up with crap at the dock or at a good time, that is why I do it that way.
