Does anybody know if a regular pressure pot sandblaster will strip the paint off the bottom if i use extra fine glass beads[180-320grit]?
Ihear soda uses a different kind of blaster. Thanks Troy
If you want to keep the repairs to the bottom to a minimum go with soda. Anything else may take it down to far. Take it from someone who spent hours trying to find all the little pin holes that went through to the mat after the bottom was Sand Blasted. Soda is kinder but you should think about putting on a barrier coat when you are done.
I experimented with walnut shells before I went with soda. Harbor Freight sometime has bags on sale. They stripped the paint well. I think that the glass beads would be harsher and leave an anchor pattern. Dust may be an issue for you depending on where you are doing the work.
like marshal i used walnut shells....worked well but patience is required. a friend did his with sand at low pressure......an interesting concept. the soda do- hicky is appealing
