Looks to me like a drug deal in the making, I'm calling Lyman right away. Ran-dahllllll...the Bride insists it can't be all out of one pc. of wood, she says it would be impossible. Set her straight.
thanks for all the kind words....UV...you can assure the blond bombshell that it is carved from one block of vermont white pine ,no glue, and hand painted with ink and acrylic
Randall, screw the money, the box is amazing. I deal with corrugated cardboard all day every day and you have got it so right that I can't even believe it. I would like to see that in person.
you welcome anytime....its fun here in the summer.
about the box....it started out an inch higher...and i broke it carving under a stack of bills....so i cut the whole thing down to its present height...took four tries to get a color i liked
You always seem to "one up" yourself with each new work. I thought the WSJ was pretty unbeatable, then came the cutting board, & now the box of dough... I never cease to be amazed by your tallent. I have a hard time just makin' a decent cabinet drawer.
looks like our ex governor`s luggage going to a convention in washington. with bill clinton living in n.y could you imagine the stories those guys have sitting on the porch having a drink.randall didn`t want to take away your compliments it came to mind with all the publicy in ny.
As the others have said, the work is impeccable.....as always.
You never cease to amaze us. One day, I too would like to own one of your pieces.
Now, while not to bust a bubble, but to my discerning eye, this work seems to be incomplete.
But it may just be a minor oversight. The bill on top in the upper right corner is missing the serial number
wow....wondered if anyone would notice that . good eye harv....theres a bit more missing than that but another few days ought to do it......BTW..none of the people who have seen it in person spotted that.
That is absolutely amaizing. You have a great talent. You must also have the patience of an inch worm.
Dick
thanks for all the kind responses...glad i can share this with people i like so much..
....as to patience...as my wife caren can verify....i am not a patient person...when i was younger my surfer nickname was "bombs away"...well earned i might add. you would be surprised if you watched me work....only the last steps are brain surgery....everything else is quick with a lot of controlled accident....thats the trick.....its way more about confidence than patience
That's awesome. I have a framed picture of the UV legal pad in the salon of Southern Breeze. It's actually the only picture I ever thought enough of to mount on a boat. This one, while perhaps not as sentimental to the B31/UVI4 crowd, is 100% awesome!
Zowie, this might be better than a restored 100-4.

Well, I'm out...even if I go on a diet. Randall, would you do me a few individual notes? I'll increase the order as we go....
My geat-grandfather was a fine-art printer, a lot of hand-engraved plates, he got raided by the police in the 1930s...so, better not. Talent died with him unfortunately....mind boggling work Randall.
I sanded a nice finish on the teak rubbing strip on Tennessee on Sunday.
i needed a model so i went to the bank with 3 fifties...said give me a crisp new hundred and fifty ones....the teller said "im not even going to ask." so theoretically..they're all ones underneath.
