deck flex

Post by Bill G. »

Noticed a little flex where my outrigger base is when the rigger was lowered, banged around with a hammer sounded solid not sure that the fiberglass is a problem.Figuring old fiberglass ready for some re-enforcing under the deck,a plywood pad?starboard?any good ideas? Thanks in advance - Bill

Bill,

Some flex is to be expected from fiberglass... The rigger bases should have a generous backing plate though. Nothing less than 1/2" in thickness, plywood is fine, as is starboard. I'd use 3/4" or 5/8" plywood...

Br,

Patrick
