PALM BEACH GARDENS - A 60-year-old Wellington man died after being pinned between his boat's dive platform and a seawall at the Soverel Harbour Marina Wednesday morning. Thomas Lakomia was pronounced dead at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center shortly after the 7:30 a.m. incident. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Dani Moschella said Lakomia and his wife Lynne were planning to leave for the Bahamas and that Lakomia was in the water behind his 38-foot Carver cabin cruiser for an unknown reason before the boat backed into him.
The boat motor was on at the time.
Moschella said the incident is being treated as an accident.

And thus we have another Darwin award winner.

Maybe not a Darwin award winner after all.....
From another site...
"Tom was a 100 ton USCG Certified Captain.
Tom Lakomia served 2 tours in Nam, awarded Silver Star with OLC, two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star with V device, etc. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery September 19, 2007 at 1300 with Full Military Honors. "
I guess freaky accidents can happen...
