Engine Mounts???

Post by scot »

Ok guy's...what's the group's pick for engine mounts, R&D?

It's a heavy engine/gear (2,300 lbs) and I will need 4.

Bruce's shots of self destructing Yanmar mounts will certainly make you think twice about installing el-cheapos.

Scot,
They were Marine Power mounts, not Yanmar. Big difference between the two.

You need to know the weight front to weight rear to make sure that you don't need different load mounts front and rear.

That's something I had not considered, but I'm sure I can "guestimate"....or do what I typically do any way, buy one size bigger than the chart shows I need.

I'm not any good at building light & fast....I'm much better at building slow, heavy & bullet proof.

thanks..

Thats my trade mark also.......but I rarely have to apologize for my work other than because it weighs a ton

I figure that if a little paint does a little good just think what a lot of paint will do...Ha

I have had acouple of people tell me that I should NOT use the gear for the aft mount on my heavy engine. I ran across this 6V71 Detroit in a bone yard in South Louisiana. This engine has the aft mounts coming off the rear housing of the engine.

My engine does have this same rear housing...should I go this route?
