Florida and Gulf Coast, pay attention

Post by Bruce »

To early yet depending on just where the steering currents arrive and how strong they are, we are possibly in the path of the next storm.

We're going to get wet, if nothing else.

Looks like she is taking a bead on Tampa with a storm surege that is going to be felt way up into the Pan Handle.

Be careful and adjust those lines.

Still trying to figure out what this holds for the Chesapeake Bay surge wise. Hard to tell.

It's getting windy.
My boat was already on blocks for repairs/restoration.
Just strapped it down, and hoping for the best.
Glad i haven't replaced all the windows yet....or the wiring.....or the paint.....or the floors......well i guess im glad its still a work in progress.
Wish i had insured it for enough to do all that.

If anyone is interested, WeatherFlow has made their Tempest one App open to the public for this storm. So if you want to track it you can see what is going on. If you click on the flags, you will get the wind speed and the time it was posted. Right now it is showing winds on Sannibel in excess of 70 MPH.

If anyone is interested in real time data, as long as internet connections work in the area, you can download for free the Tempest app and access their network of private weather station by opening the Tempest map which shows Tempest Weather stations all over the world. I find it useful checking on wind speeds before heading out on the water. I have found that the windpeed varies by 5 MPH between my station which is located on the west side of Barnegat Bay to those stationed on Long Beach Island.

While I own a Tempest station, I am not endorsing them or selling them. I just thought some of you might find this helpful.
