Cummins B's engine mount Jig

Post by Rit »

Does anyone know where I could find a engine mount Jig for Cummins 6bta 270Bs?

If you've got one I could use, email me through the board.

Thanks Rit

Rit,
From Cummins you can get a diagram of your engine with trans and from that it is fairly easy to build a jig from plywood and 2 x 4's. Chek it out.

Jig

Post by Capt. Mike Holmes »

I was lent a jig when I was mounting my 6B's, but didn't use it. It appears there are two ways to do it. You can mount the engine using the jig, best when keeping existing shaft angle and struts, or start from the other end, as I did. I roughly positioned the engines after bolting the new, larger struts in place where the smaller ones had been, ran a long wooden dowel the same diameter as the new shafts through the strut and the hole where the old shaft logs had been, and fine tuned engine and strut placement from there. New shaft logs were positioned accordling.
