Thru-hull scoop facing front or back, trimming to size?

Post by ktm_2000 »

Hi All,

I purchased a new thru-hull scoop to feed my livewell / washdown pumps and remember back in the day that I had to trim it to length and don't remember which direction it faced.

How tight to filling all the threads on the seacock do I need to go when I trim it to length?

Which direction is best?

Fwd, especially if you are using a centrifical type pump.

Depends on the thickness of your backing plate.

2 to 3 threads left on your thru hull before bottoming out is fine.
