rub rail

I want to replace the rub rail on my 1979 28" FB. Is the only way to determine the correct replacement material is to take off a piece to and an exact match. Has anyone used TACO rub rail replacement?

I have been looking at the one from Taco marine myself. The solid aluminum one looks like the one on my 1983 28. If you figure it out please repost. Part number A11-0511
