Swim platform materials?

Post by IRGuy »

I know there was a post here in the recent past about swim platform materials. I can't get the search function to work (Capt Pat.. check your mail in 2 or 3 days) so I am asking here.. can someone give me the link, or Capt Pat can you please repeat here the materials and procedures you recommended for building a swim platform?

Thanks...

I would lioke to report the swim platform is one of the best additions we put on the boat. We used it this weekend when I dove under the boat for a bottem scrub. It's stronger than I thought, we allready used it as a bumper against a pole and not a scratch. Make sure you use good quality 316 SS hardware the cheap S@#& will rust in a matter of days.

Cap't Pat and Russ.. thanks for your responses.

Russ.. You say you coated the Divinycell. With what? What did you use for adhesive? Did you use mechanical fasteners? Did you route the edges?

I did the whole project in polyester. Sanded the radius by hand, thought a router might burn the foam. I made 4 custom Stainless Steel brackets for supports.

Capt Pat ...

Sorry to be beating this subject to death, but since Russ said he used polyester as a coating, which I assume has colorant added in the last coat.. will this stand up to heavy sun without degrading, or should it be painted or coated with something else as a topcoat?
