B31 Fuses in engine comp[artments

Hi!! Does anyone know what the original big fuses located on the engine compartments (both sides) bulkhead were for ??? Doing a rebuild and the Porcelain fuse holders and fuses were still attached to the bulkheak in both engine compartments with the wiring deadended. Would appreciate any info regarding this info.

On my 79 28 those fuses fed the 12 volt fuse panels.
