Want to get one for my fishing kayak.
Bass Pro has a Humminbird helix 5 chirp with down imaging gps gen for 299.
They also have a Lowrance hook reveal 7, 7x splitshot, 7x triple shot.
Anybody have experience with these cheap units?

not to steal your thunder on your post but any suggestions on a fishing kayak?
Re: Fishing kayak sounder/gps
I sat in a bunch before I found one that fit me comfortable. Looked at one's that cost 3k and below and settled on the Bass Pro ascend.

While I am not too far off from finishing my B25 (see pics below where I left off last fall)

Under the deck is done, deck pieces cut out and fitted, I need to glass down the deck and do a lot of finish work. With all this crap going on, I'm probably going to slowly finishing my B25 this year but not buy the expensive stuff such as a new 300hp outboard and electronics. I think that if I can hang on to as much of my savings as I can it would be good thing as well as my wife already lost her job and the small business she worked for probably won't re-open after it is done.
any which way, I've got to get something to be on the water and catch some schoolie striped bass in the protected bay near my house so I will be in the market for a kayak.
