has anybody tryed putting paste wax on there coupling to keep them from rusting ???i applied 4 coats to one of minr today and sprayed the other with max wax,,,i also applied 3-4 coats on my racors also on the metal parts of-em ,,,if water cain't get to it it should last a little while longer right ???

My couplings are painted. The last time I removed the couplings from the shafts I beadblasted them, then primed and painted with plain old Rustoleum Red Metal primer and White top coat.
I think an application of Max Wax after assembly would help stop rust on the propeller shaft bore and the unpainted faces between the gear coupling half and shaft coupling half.
I did this over a year ago and they still look pretty good.
