Azek Panels

Can someone give me the Azek product code that most closely matches the original Bertram colors for aft deck side panels? I' redoing our 35 SF.

The Azek comes in white and if you need to change the color you would have to paint them. I believe most of the people who use the Azak leave them alone, actually makes them easier to maintain. Bob Lilco showed me how if they get marked up and the marks do not come off, he just takes fine grit sand paper and gently rubs them out.

I replaced mine with Azek, super easy project. I just use a “magic eraser” which gets most of the marks off without sanding.

tony i use a sanding block with 320 grit and my son wet sands every three years or so. he does both panels under the companionway sides of engine hatches (that really take a beating) . the panels pull out of interlock with no screws and he has them done in 30 minutes.

I thought Azek was a thin material, like Formica, that had to be glued to a substrate. What thickness have you all been using? I want to replace the side panels on our 1972 35' Bertram SF.

It must be me, but if I had to almost remove all components, I might as well change all those panels. Replace with new ply at 220mm thickness, choose your veneer, done.

I find that eventually the veneer depending on color, fades or the weather eventually attacks the glue or plywood and it breaks down. The Azek actually is a better product. Paint it if you must, but once up, it will be there long after the 30 year old new guy who buys the boat is gone.
