Simrad replacement

Re: Simrad replacement
Just an update on my experience with the Humminbird 385ci which came with my boat (hopefully not too far off topic): After playing around with the view and zoom functions I got it to display the built in "chart" for my area. So far all I can get is a basic outline with no indications of depth or navigational aids. I could probably use the waypoint marking functions to show buoy locations but it does not look like this is going to come close to being a substitute for a regular chart plotter.

Re: Simrad replacement
With regards to transducers and new chartplotters. A couple of years back I replaced my Foruno fishfinder with two Garmin multifunction displays. We were able to reuse the transducer from the Foruno using an adapter.

Re: Simrad replacement
Simrad has a junction box that can be wired from Garmin to Simrad. That is what I use.
