Outrigger and Half tower aluminum restoration

Post by Kevind767 »

Anyone have luck, or recommend a ceramic coating for old and scuffed up aluminum, on both the outriggers and Half tower.
I don’t expect a miracle product, just something better than paint.

Not ceramic or fancy but I use Woody Wax
https://www.amazon.com/Woody-Wax-Tower- ... 0055&psc=1

A scotch brite pad or even some bronze wool if it is very oxidized will work to knock down the rough spots and the Woody Wax will last a month or so.
Good Luck-

Check online...there is a U Tube video of a company doing this with magnificent results.
Only I thought the video was way too long with huge chunks of time missing with several guys working on it so while it sure looks great it does not look like a quick fix or inexpensive fix...been then again neither is a new tower.

Kevin,
I have used Flitz for years on fiberglass and aluminum it's expensive but what isn't these days, it comes in pint cans not just tube. we used it for years in the boat yard I had my yacht brokerage in. Try and call Rupp Outriggers in Stuart Fl and ask what they recommend for restoring old aluminum towers and riggers. Woody wax is also a great product.

Gents
Thanks for all of the info.
I’m just a lazy ass anymore, and don want to go back and polish them later.
Got better things to do, than be a slave to this boat :-D :-D

If aluminum anodize is in pretty good shape with just that nasty white oxidation layer...this stuff is a miracle in a bottle. Spray it on, wipes off to a high shine.
First time I used, I did the tower in 5 minutes flat...wife and friends though I was busting my arse all day polishing. Results did look that way. My buddy was so impressed how my tower was shining he started dong his with Flitz...after the 2nd beer I brought the Rupp cleaner over and gave a spray. I'm not sure if he was pissed I let him bust his hump so long while I watched or happy he didn't have to keep using the Flitz.
Holds up real good for the effort put in.

Please make sure you read and understand that last sentence...
