PSS Shaft seals

Hi,
Having just sea trialled and had leaking “dripless” seals (rubber lip seal type), I now know that I should have bought the PSS type!
Question is, what diameter stern tube do I have? It’s the original tube, on a ‘71 B31. Anyone know offhand? PSS need to know that to give me the correct size rubber tubing. I can’t measure it in the water!

If you have 1 3/8 shafts I believer it is 2 1/2 inches. You should be able to get a rough measurement to double check by measuring across the tube. If you are out of the water to repair it pull it apart and be sure of the size.

If you have a Tides lip seal just replace the seal. Normally there is an extra seal on the shaft on a carrier. If the seal is on the shaft it should slide into place no need to pull the boat.

I’m trying to get the measurement before getting hauled out, so I have the seals ready.

I have replaced the Tides lip seal already, but still leaks. They are less tolerant to movement of the engine & shaft than the PSS type, it seems.

Dsve make dure the dhaft is not scored or ffirty.

I was advised to put a crossover hose to keep both shafts lubricated even with 1engine off during trolling
