If they can be rebuilt and they did not cost you a fortune, I would put them up for sale. Post them here on and on other boards. I would say ebay but they take a good chunk out of the sale.

If you wanted to double your cruise speed...and ears, you could put in your boat.

The 315's will fit just fine. Figure on a cruise between 26 and 28 Knots with a top end around 33 knots. This all depends on how much the boat weighs and if you have a tower or not.
Fuel Burn would be about the same as the cummins may be a tad better on fuel.
The only issue would be that everything on a Yanmar is more expensive than Cummins. Filters, parts etc.
Otherwise Great engines.
I don't remember what size Cummins you have, but if they are the 250 or 270's the Turbo is fresh water cooled and on the Yanmars and larger Cummins they are Sea Water cooled. So more upkeep. Turbos need to be cleaned every couple of years.

Keith...I must have missed a few posts along the way...I thought you were running Detroit 4 bangers.
315's would be a heck of an upgrade to those.
Personally I'd stick with 250 Cummins over 315 Yanmars...but thats just me. I like simplicity.

Re: Yanmar 315
the only draw back with the 315s is the timing belt need to be changed
I think every 1,000 hrs, its not mechanical
other then that I know a lot of people running them and are very pleased
