Borg Warner 1.5/1 Gears
Hey Guys....Well the Cummins 504s that I inherited with my 31 project boat won't turn over so the decision on how soon to repower is now certain...These engines have Borg Warner 1.5/1 Model AS2 73C's attached....I am almost certain to repower with Cummins in the 270-330 range...Will these gears be appropriate for this repower?? Thanks, John

Bruce, with such vague answers like that people get real confused as to what you mean...
Re: Borg Warner 1.5/1 Gears
Before I'd give up on them I'd try to turn them manually first... Remove the injectors and spray some WD40 (or other penetrating oil) into each cylinder... Let that "work" for several hours... Put a 3/4 drive socket on the flywheel nut... Use a 3/4 breaker bar, with a long piece of pipe if necessary... The worst thing that can happen is that you'll break the damned thing... Not a problem if you're willing to spring for a reposer...John Nardi wrote:Well the Cummins 504s that I inherited with my 31 project boat won't turn over

John
The 270 Cummins usually attaches to a ZF Tranny. Ignore Bruce, he has his aluminum hat on tonight.
