Priceless has a new look

Post by Priceless »

Capt. Patrick let me in and I enjoyed showing pics of my meticulously maintained 31 Bahia Mar on Priceless has a new owner. After a season of fishing and running through 8 footers with leaky bimini some changes were in order. Some before and after pics. Work by John Patnovic and Patrick Callaghan of Worton Creek Marina and Dave Miller fabrication of North East , Maryland.New water pump this July 4th by Art Holgerson, Sr, with sons Chris and Art, Jr assisting and me losing hardware.Image[/urlImage[/urlImage[/urlImage[/urlImage[/urlImage[/urlImage[/URLImage[/URLImage[/URLImage[/URLImage[/URLImage[/URLImageImage[/URLImage[/urlImage[/urlImage[/URLImage

Beautiful boat, really nice pictures. You should be really proud of the boat, she is in immaculate condition.

Love it!

Love pictures too...

1550 and 1570 is for those that say the 31 is not a wet boat. I have stood in those spray showers plenty a times. But I'll take it over being beat up and tossed around in other boats...although those days they usually stay dockside.

When in tower...be sure to leave radar off.

Definitely wet. That's why the change to the hardtop with clear to sea glass. I was tired of water dripping through the Bimini zipper and no sun protection. Thanks for the radar advice. I believe there is a function where it only sends out a beam in the front for that reason but haven't figured it out yet. Electronics guy coming over to get autopilot up so I will ask him.

I love the fact that Priceless has never been painted and that shine comes from the original gelcoat that is 46 years old.

honest to God i cannot say anything else about the " wet" subject . i took her out fire island inlet with real 7 footers then on to sunken wreck Linda for sea bass at 28knt cruise. then into east waves and 20 knt winds to wreck San Diego for cod then back to FI reef for fluke . 4 people on board and came back into fire island inlet riding the waves (following sea) not a drop of water on covering boards son in law sitting in fighting chair ,a 50 mile trip biggest problem staying awake on bridge! boring ,boring boring i sort of wish i had a wet boat to stay awake.BTW .the ocean is breaking at least 2 feet further toward transom i Phoenix then it is on Priceless. i can help; first off what engines are in this boat.

Bob- If you really want a little splash to the face to wake the crew and yourself up...cut your speed down to 17-18 knots with a cross wind. Then you can bring it back up again after...unless you like riding the Bertram Long flume in the front seat..its not a bad thing.

...except maybe in November burrr. But then its driving downstairs if at all possible.

I have my radar mounted in about the same place...
Since I cannot be both in tower and at lower helm reading radar...I put unit into standbye when I go up...or just shut.

carl you know the boat as well as i do. can not do 17-18 .i can make real bow proud at 13 in real big seas then she pops on plane with a minimum of 21-22 or she lugs---------like i am dragging a anchor.bad news when your the leader taking the "bottle boat" out on a trip to eastern LI. teaching basic navigation to wine and cheese group.15 to 20 is well below torque curve of these cummins.i have a large polymer window in front that does not roll up or fold you lift the whole window and zipper it to cross bar.in November, December i leave down but i wish i had that cold water on face sometimes.

Twin 315 yanmars with a 15 degree shaft angle I believe. Engines put in by Grover in LI. I'm originally from Long Island and still have family there. Looking forward to seeing and hopefully getting a ride in that fabulous FBC next visit. P

the invitation is open anytime i am retired but still help out my son whom inherited my business but keeps me busy never the less. lets start with the minor fixes and then evaluate other balance problems. what kind of anchor/chain do you have in that anchor locker? (steel dan-ford or aluminum fortress).

Steel danforth. Seems puny. Had a fortress on my 23 Steiger. Never was in love with it. Ran out last week 3150 rpm 28 knots on a flat sea. Beautiful. Art senior with son Chris piloted it back from offshore at 23 knots in a beam sea. Tons of spray but the new enclosure is quite dry and the clear-to-sea sheds water quickly. In terms of Worton Creek,as JP said he's not the cheapest nor the most expensive but he will do the job right. I agree 100%. I recommend them whole heartedly. He's a man of is word and the work is without par.

Also, those pictures were all in the local inlet at slow to up to planing speed for effect. Will try to get some at full cruise for more realistic idea of wave break.
