Azek -similar
A while back, I used an Azek (popular in north east) alternative that's is popular in the south-east.
I have another area to do and for life of me can't remember the name of the southern alternative.
I remember Patrick confirming that it was a coke/Pepsi sort of scenario.
Couldn't find it with a search ..... Anyone know of it or remember ?
Used for cockpit side panels ...... Thanks

After reading one of Captain Patrick's suggestions several years ago about PVC "lumber" and it's advantages I shifted from epoxy coated plywood to PVC. I did a Google search and found a local branch of a building materials company stocked 3/8" and 3/4" 4'x8' sheets. I have bought several sheets of both thicknesses.. The 3/8" costs about $80, and the 3/4" about $150.
My source is Lansing Building Supply, but they don't have branches in NY.. however if you search for "PVC lumber sources" you will find several sources. If you don't need 4'x8' sheets both Lowes and Home Depot have PVC in board form,

Re: Azek -similar
Azek seems to glue well with West System Six-10. Not sure how long it lasts. But I got a good bond.
Sea Hunt Triton 207, a step down, but having fun till my next Bertram!

Does it have similar structural properties?!...CaptPatrick wrote:PVC Foam Board as an Alternative to Plywood -- http://bertram31.com/proj/tips/pvc.htm

Re: Azek -similar
Low structural value. Plywood can be structural, pvc foam board no where as much as plywood...

PVC board and sheet can be glued well with regular epoxy, just be sure to sand the surfaces to give them a little "tooth". It also takes paint well.. again, sand the surfaces.
Captain Patrick is certainly correct in that is not to be used for structural purposes, It will soften with heat, and I read that it comes and goes somewhat with large temperature changes.
