Olivia!

Post by Dug »

I cannot begin to express my love and pride in my other half, Kerri. We are proud to welcome Olivia Thatcher Stowe to the world! She was born June 2nd at 11:29 pm via c-section after 34.5 hours of labor. She is feeding well and curled right up on mom's chest. We are amazingly blessed today! She was born weighing 7 lbs 12 ounces and 20" long. She is going to be a proud Bertram girl!!!

Congratulations for the good news !

I had ordered a girl myself, but there must have been a software problem in the warehouse, anyway, they delivered a boy to us.
We thought we'd keep it as it looked a nice model year (1999) !!!

Congrats Dug!
Life does change, but for the better. I think we were home from hospital within about 24 hours of birth. On his third day we had our son on his first boat ride. Start her young with the boats!
We bring our son everywhere and he got a passport for those long boat rides just after he was two years old. It's not always easy but the memories will be with you forever. Enjoy it while you can. Killian just turned three and is up to my waist. I'm 6'3"!

The best way I heard it described is the days are long but the years are short!

I have four, my youngest is six, I miss the baby stage, singing and dancing your daughter to settle her down is one of the great simple pleasures in life. Congratulations, enjoy it, you can sleep when they do or when they become teenagers which is sooner than you can imagine.

The great advantage of having taken your time is you can see how your buddies managed and do it the same or differently!

Way to go Dug!

Mazzel tov!!!

Wow... 34.5 hours of labor... Kerri must be exhausted!!!

Whether it was 20, 18, 12 or 9 years ago, I remember each and every birth as if it happened only yesterday...

Congratulations Dug!

Glad to hear mother and daughter are both doing well. Enjoy, its a whole new learning experience that needs to be done first hand to be understood.

....so when is the second to be expected?

That has to be the best explanation I have ever heard.

Dug, so glad for you, enjoy!

Not me.... Don't get me wrong some very memorable moments at baby stage...some even good (just kidding).
For me...I loved when I could finally talk with my daughters..double edge sword for sure...but experiencing life thru their eyes, watching and listening to their personalities emerge was the cats meow.

Congratulations my friends....so, since you will be busy changing diapers, going to dance recitals, trips to DisneyWorld and all the other fun young parenting things -- where'd you leave the keys to Alchemy? I'll even wash her up after I bloody her decks!

I better see this bundle of joy in person....and soon -- but first, I exit stage left on the road to El Dorado.....

Congrats, they grow up in a blink of an eye. Like others have said get her on the boat asap. It truly becomes 2nd nature to them. Joe

Thanks guys, I am so happy to be able to share the news here. And I know some of our old timers are looking down from above and smiling.

Trust me I will be getting her on a boat as soon as I possibly can. I am not sure Kerri will allow her on the little 15' whaler right out of the gate, and the Bert won't likely be wet until July/August, but there are other boats we can get her on, like my parents and my friend Mike who I fish with, to say nothing of other boats around. I dearly hope she learns quickly to adore life on the water, and having another mate is something that will be spectacular. I am not sure I can predict my reaction the first time I see her reel in her first fish, or dock the boat herself. I know I have thought of bringing her to the Barta tournament in NC in a few years so we shall see!

Thanks for all the support, and as always what a place the sandbox is.
