Blisters

Post by makomike1 »

This past fall when boat was puilled I noticed some pencil size blisters on the hull. There are about 20 of them, I popped them to let them dry out. My questioni what is the best way to fill these little blisters. Some suggested using awefair by awlgrip. Never used it before, how is it to work with or what else could I use. I plan on sealing it with inter-protect2000 Thanks Mike W

Mike,

Awlfair will work and is easy, albeit a bit pricey. Really more of a fairing compound... To fill small blister holes I prefer the 3M Premium Filler, any hole larger than 2" diameter use epoxy and fiberglass

Thanks for your input capt. Patrick. So with that stuff I can just grind out blister , fill in with the 3m filler , sand smooth than cover with barrier coate 2000E, and finally bottom paint. Are they the correct steps. Thanks Mike W

Mike,

Yup, that's all that's needed on small blisters...
