It's not the block that gets rebuild but rather the whole engine... Rebuilding an engine is NOT a specific term and many people understand it to mean different things... At the low end it means a partial overhaul... At the high end the engine is fully brought back to OEM specifications...jspiezio wrote:Another question. How would the old block be rebuilt that makes it so expensive versus a replacement block.

Sorry to hear about your engine problem. I don't understand why it is so expensive or almost the same price as a new one.

Killa,
Brewsters boat is for sale in the low to mid $30's with a pair of the 6LP's. You could sell of the other engine and transmissions and save some coin.
Jspiezio,
There were two 4LH failures on the same type of hose that I heard of. My fix was to have Morland Hose in Oakdale make up a new set. Cheap money and a quick install.

killa,
I called my Jersey engine go-to guy and he has a used 6LP-STE for sale. Call Kenny King at 908-513-4577. I still like the idea of parting-out Brewster's boat.

Re: YANMAR 6-LPE-STE
will take pic and post it .I recived another piece of info for any yanmar owners .When I dropped back on the rpm from anything over 3000 right down to 1000 & below the motor would rap for 3 to 5 sec & go right away.Should have had valve guides checked that is a problem with the ste model there was a class action suit and I believe never amounted to anything. As far as the noise denial will get you a blown motor
