Turbo Housing

Post by buzzk »

Taking off my turbo I may have messed up my turbo housing. I'm taking it to the machine shop in the morning. If it can't be repaired I'll have to buy a new one. I was quoted 1630 for a new one. It's for a 6 BTA 330hp Cummins. I can't find anyone to sell just the housing. How much would a rebuilt turbo cost and where's a reliable source? Thanks

This is what happened. A couple of bolts broke off on the turbo. Well I didn't catch it until the exhaust gases had eroded the surface. Not bad but I needed to resurface the face. One machine shop said they couldn't mill it down because the other flange stuck out and got in the way. I tried another machine shop today and they said they didn't think it was a problem but it would be the first of the month before they could get to it. That's fine but I'm still looking for the housing just in case.
