Fuel vent

Post by ed c. »

What is the best preferred way to install the hose to the fuel vent connection to the hull? Should there be a loop to avoid water from entering? Thanks

Ed,

A "goose neck", but not a loop. A loop will trap liquid and prevent the venting. Be sure the vent fitting is clean and has a bug screen...

Ed - Not sure if you are getting a new vent, but I used this from GemLux:

A few things that I liked about it. The "exhaust" side of the vent was angled so it would point back towards the stern and the 90 degree fitting on the inside towards the bow. Even with water driving up the sides of the hull, it would be very difficult for water to enter.

I also really like the flush mount. definately a cleaner look and would not "scoop" the water either.

That's the one that I use. Flush mount, very clean looking.

Ed,
That is the same flush mount vent that we used when we were building the 34 Legend, I also used them for all the vents for my 31 that I sold last summer. I used them on the holding tank vent, gas tank vent, my water tank was vented at top of the tank. They are flush mounted and don't whack your knuckles like the old style when your waxing the hull sides. The stainless steel finish has been on the boat for over 14 years and still looks like new.
