Steve, will add you on the list, pm me your address so I can get shipping quote from ups..once I get the guys from the original group who chipped in taken care of, I will go down the list and get them out as quickly as I can. Please be patient..remember it took me 8 years to build Resolute..as long as Trip keeps popping them out of the mold and we keep him paid I see no reason not to get this done. BH

Capt Pat, great news guess the shipping gorillas took it easy on that package. Now let's see you show us how it's done, paint her up and mounted on Bertram worthy plaque. All but one of the first batch has been shipped, I will touch base with Tripp and see if next round is ready. BH

Many thanks Capt Pat & Tommy, I wanted to duplicate what Bertram did back in the day along with matching paint, the emblems were on the original as well or added by owner? The parts being pulled look spot on to the originals. BH

Bob, the "Bertram 31" emblem you see under my half hull model is an old corroded one I took off my old boat and replaced with a SS emblem. I mounted it there on the slat-board in my shop instead of throwing it away. I am told there was a small engraved brass plaque mounted on the black base under the model, but I don't know what was engraved on it.

Charlie, it's from the shadow effect where the lifting strakes join the chine; but you are correct that it looks wavey. I have a better photo I can share by email to you or Bob, but I'm not smart enough to post it online, or smart enough to follow the directions on the "Posting photos" help page. And yes, I am computer challenged.........

Three things:

First, happy holidays to all.
Second, yes, I agree too, there seems to be a wavy pattern, even in Capt's pic.
Third, Tommy, if you are to throw away anything like this logo, well, please put it in the "swap" page so it might end up on another boat!

Cheers to all, for a happy '15,

Yannis.

Half Mold has arrived. Looks great.

For us amatures out there, some painting suggestions would be good. Are you going to spary or brush. Spray, I guess an airbrush or prevail sprayer. Shame to buy a quart for such a small job, but looks like that is what we will have to do, unless someone has a better suggestion for paint.

For mounting it, I guess a couple of blocks of wood eposied into the hull and them to the board or display of your choice of course.

All suggestions welcome.

Greetings from Carter Creek on the Northern Neck of Virginia. Rawleigh and I send you the following photos from one of the original Bertram dealers. This half mold is on plywood with black Formica (?)
Image
Image
Image
This was presented to the dealer (one of the originals) on the sale of the 1000th Bertram. Both of our boats originally came from this dealer on Carter Creek. Rawleigh's has been in his family since new! His is in nice original condition including the engines which run just fine, thank you. When new the family built a custom boathouse with doors for the boat. Almost don't need dock lines because she fits so well.
Enjoy!

Thanks Mikey! That half model had been living outside for some while when we rescued it. I assume it was edge banded originally. I don't think it was a super high fit and finish when it was new though.

Interesting. So they came straight out of the mold white. No painting, including no waterline. The black does set it off.

Rawleigh

I wonder if you and I are the only two who's 31's have not changed families.

Mine was purchased new by my father in August of 75. She came out of Brielle Yacht Sales, who's claim to fame was that they were the first Bertram Dealer outside of Richard Bertram. Old Al Loosie was quite a character. I went to school with his Granddaughter.

Mine is no longer original since I put diesels in her and Capt. Pat's rudders. Plus a new deck. Interior is still original but that is do for an upgrade.

I can still remember the August day we picked it up. I was a young 24 years old. Back then in 75 there was not much on the water that could run with us. The big blocks were the best option back then. The old Tripple nickle cummins were stingy on fuel but the boat could not get out of its own way.

The following year we put our first Blue Fin on her. Then came the Canyon trips. Fond memories.

Navatech, the half models are gelcoated, but due to the spiders in the mold they must be sanded out. Trip and I have discussed making a new mold and using custom gelcoat colors and or white to the customers request. For now keeping it simple is the plan. I put a call in to him today for the next batch. Steve glad it made the trip and round about way for you to get one, lol. Find it in FL drag it to LI ship it to RI and shipped out of Mass. Gotta love the sandbox. BH

The funny thing is the boat stuff I have taken on planes.
The mold got a strange look, but nothing gets the look of a boat fender.
The plastic stock ... just the stock ... of a Mossberg almost got me arrested and surely on someones list somewhere !!

Maybe Gert will places orders from manufactures here in the US and it could tag along in one of his shipments?
