Bow Chock Update

Post by Dug »

I have information!

I need to gauge real interest in how many bow chocks there is a demand for. If you don't remember, I contacted a foundry run by an acquaintance. They cast in stainless. We talked about the possibility of tooling up the ability to make imitation Bertram bow chocks. By imitation I mean that they wouldn't be factory original pieces. They would be solid one piece, without the removable top pieces. I don't think they would be able to accommodate the nav. lights, but that is fine, as most don't work well long term located the old fashioned way.

Rough pricing would absolutely depend on demand, so would you do me a favor? Would you reply if you were interested in one? This would not commit you to anything, and would only be an expression of interest at this point. The pricing looks like it could be reasonable, and it would be a good piece. I don't want to talk price now however, as it would really depend on how many there is interest for. More pieces, lower prices.

I think I would need to see 15-20 to make it go at all.

So, if you were interested in a bow chock, and would like one made of polished stainless, let me know! We can go from there!

Thanks,

Dug

Dug, I'd be interested in one, assuming it would be a direct replacement (drop in the same bolt holes, etc).

Dug,

Following UV's theme, if it is a direct replacement, then yes, I'd be interested in one too.

So far 9, and yes, I would make sure it was a direct replacement. It has got to look feel and roughly function (not including the electrical) the same or in my mind, there is no point.

Like I said, 9 and counting! Many thanks!

Although Triton II has a teak pulpit and the chock can no longer be used a board...I want one, too. It'll look great on a teak base on my desk!

Do any of you know it the 31 bow chock is the same as the 33? Mine ( on a B33) still works electrically, but is pitted and needs to be rechromed. There might be others on the B33 site as well who might be interested if they are the same.

I don't know about the 33, or 35, but the 28 had the same chock. Timmy, you really want one? And Jack, it depends on price for all I think. If the thing came back at $500, I don't really think it would be a go...unless I am wrong! At this point it isn't at that #, and like I said, the more interest the better I think...

Wait, wait, wait - Same as the B28? As in Hyena? For sure?

If so, I am in brother (asuming decent price). Nov. 72 hull, and mine looks like hades.

Plus, I need something shiney to distract folks from a couple ugly dock scabs up towards the bow.

Depending on price, me too. Damn, UV, now I'll have a newly chromed paper weight.

Like Mikey, I'm in, depending on price. Since i have a pulpit, would have to study how to best use it.

It is not too late, and the turn out so far for interest has been great.

I am shipping my chock to the vendor for final evaluation, and will have more info in a week or two.
