Put to bed for the winter - B20 Bahia

Post by ianupton »

I have not posted many updates recently, but here is a recent picture with new windshield installed.

Image

We realized earlier in summer that I am under propped. I have Volvo Penta 4.3 GXi-E with 225 hp and a 2.32 ratio Duoprop. Currently running FH6 propset.

My top speed is about 5 mph off what it should be, only burning 14 gph at WOT vs the 18 that are in spec. Ran it today with the Volvo tech and his computer hooked up.

Engine load at WOT is only 72%. Engine load increased up to 4000 rpm then just plateaus at 72%. Seems that I could go up to the FH7 or FH8 depending on how I normally have it loaded. Looks like I can try both the FH7 and FH8 next spring to see which is better.

Still a few things to complete on the boat, but it was great to have her on the water this summer.

Wow! That boat has come a long way from the day I saw it in the parking garage in New Rochelle NY. Well done!

Very nice, Ian. That paint looks like a sage color in that light. Some sort of accent stripe on the raised cap might be nice...give you something to do over the winter! Ha!
